Our History

Arq is a diversified, high performance, environmental technology company with products that enable a cleaner and safer planet while actively reducing our environmental impact. Formerly known as ADA and Advanced Emissions Solutions (ADES), we have been at the forefront of providing cutting-edge products to control mercury and other contaminants for power generation and industrial companies since 1997.

At the heart of our operations is our flagship activated carbon manufacturing facility in Coushatta, LA. This state-of-the-art facility was first brought online in 2010.  It is not only the largest in North America, but it is also the most automated. Through this facility we have been providing activated carbon products to help clean the land, air and water. 

In 2023 we acquired Arq, a UK based environmental technology company that had revolutionized the production of specialty carbon products from coal mining waste.  Founded in 2015, Arq had developed a novel process that caught our attention and we knew we had to be a part of it.

And so, in February 2024, we unveiled our new identity as Arq, Inc. Our rebranding was more than just a name change; it was a symbol of our commitment to pushing boundaries and making a difference.  With our rebrand, we also introduced a fresh visual identity that captures the essence of Arq. With this new brand, we continue to be a leading environmental technology company, providing cutting-edge products to address environmental needs.
